Role
SANDAG’s 2021 Regional Plan casts a transformational vision for the future of transportation that leverages emerging transportation trends and technologies to create a transportation system that addresses traffic congestion, creates equal access for all, and meets climate action and clean air mandates. This role will lead transportation technology projects that bring this vision to life. This includes supporting the development of a regional system of smart intersections, preparing the region for connected and autonomous vehicles, developing tools that provide real time travel information to operators and travelers, and implementing the next generation of managed lanes.
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in regional or transportation planning, engineering, operations, or a related field.
Five years of increasingly responsible experience supporting ITS planning or transportation programs and services; relevant experience in lieu of educational requirements will be considered.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and current trends related to regional planning, transportation systems management and operations, or ITS systems engineering planning.
Project management experience including preparing and managing budgets, schedules, and project control measures; developing RFPs, scopes of work, and contracts; experience evaluating proposals and selecting and managing consultants.
Experience administering grant programs; experience assembling, organizing, and submitting grant applications, amendments, and progress reports.
Experience staffing committees and/or working groups, including the preparation of agendas, reports, and meeting summaries.
