This is an exciting time to Join Metro Transit as we build the infrastructure for a future of safe, reliable transportation for our region. These positions will be working in Metro’s Capital Division in the Capital Project Management Unit and will report to one of the Capital Project Management Supervisors. The Capital Project Management Unit is responsible for managing the delivery of fixed-asset capital projects within Metro’s Capital Improvement Plan. The Project Management Unit is comprised of approximately 30 professionals from a variety of backgrounds. As a Transit Capital Project Manager 1, you will be assigned to a variety of efforts across multiple sub-portfolios of Metro’s fixed asset portfolio. The unit currently has divided the work into 8 sub-portfolios which include: Facility Improvements State of Good Repair Trolley Bus Infrastructure Passenger Infrastructure Regional Transit Integration Speed and Reliability Improvements Zero Emissions (Electrification) Infrastructure Special Projects This position will work with numerous other units, sections and divisions within Metro but will have a primary working relationship with Metro’s Engineering, and Construction Management Units, as well as the Capital Planning, and Project Controls, Management & Performance (PCMP) Sections. We currently have two openings for the Transit Capital Project Manager (TCPM) 1 position. One (1) opening is for a permanent career service position, and one opening is a term-limited-temporary (TLT)/SDA position. The Term-Limited-Temporary (TLT)/Special Duty Assignment (SDA) position is anticipated to be up to 36 months in duration, with a possibility of extension up to 60-months at Metro’s discretion.
Minimum Qualifications: Associates degrees in facility management, business administration, planning or closely related filed and/or two years of experience in coordinating and providing direct support to the project managers. OR the equivalent combination of education and experience in developing and updating scope, schedule and budget in project management that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position. Desired Qualifications: Degree in project management or engineering technology Understanding of project management processes, engineering terminology and construction methodology Ability to learn and understand contract administration techniques and principles Excellent communication and organization skills and strong attention to detail Self starter and able to manage and respond to multiple tasks, competing priorities and changing work environment Collaboration with various agency staff and frequent contact with outside consultants, equipment vendors, and outside contractors. Must be willing to work with a diverse group of people Knowledge of applicable automated systems and applications. Understanding of office software including: Oracle and Microsoft Office Suite and/or the ability to learn new software programs used to manage program/project budgets and expenses, schedules, services, and activities Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing Ability to effectively interact and maintain relationships with people of diverse cultures and socio economic backgrounds Ability to work individually or as a team member Analytical skills Ability to become familiar with agency specific program and projects
