Purpose of Job The purpose of this position is to manage and direct the Unified Government's transit system and oversee operations, maintenance and administration. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: directing and supervising the overall personnel, planning, administration, operation, contracts, projects, and budget of the transit department and perform additional tasks as assigned.
Emergency Position This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Bachelor's degree in transportation or public administration or related field;
Five years of public transit operations or public administration experience required;
Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Four years of supervisory experience is required.
Must possess a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License.
The City of Athens was incorporated in 1806 by an act of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia. The City was the county seat of Clarke County, Georgia, which was established by an act of the General Assembly in 1801. The unification of the City of Athens and Clarke County in 1991 resulted in the creation and establishment of the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (the “Unified Government” or ACCGOV), a single countywide government with
