The Engineer-Conductor is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of SMART passenger trains, courteous and professional interaction with passengers, and inspection of fares. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This position is a dual-certified position consolidating the responsibilities of an Engineer and a Conductor into a single dual-certified classification.  This position is responsible for the operation of SMART Passenger trains in accordance with SMART and Federal Rail Administration (FRA) rules, operating procedures, and guidelines.
