Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is on-site in Cullowhee, NC. This position is designated as being exempt from the State of North Carolina Human Resources Act (EHRA).
Under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Enterprises, the Director of Parking and Transportation Services provides strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and operational direction for the universitys comprehensive parking and transportation programs. The position is responsible for planning, developing, and managing parking operations, enforcement services, and campus transit to ensure safe, accessible, and efficient movement throughout the campus environment.
The Director serves as the universitys subject matter expert on campus mobility, parking management, and transportation systems, leveraging data analytics, technology solutions, and industry best practices to improve operational effectiveness, customer experience, sustainability efforts, and campus accessibility. The position plays a key role in emergency planning, special event management, and long-range infrastructure development related to transportation and parking assets.
The Director establishes and implements policies, financial strategies, and service delivery models that support institutional priorities, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability. This role collaborates across campus and with external partners to align transportation initiatives with the universitys master planning efforts, enhance the campus experience, and support the evolving needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position: Minimum Qualifications:
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States of America without the need for employer sponsorship or any other immigration-related assistance
Masterss degree and five years of experience working in Higher Education, of which at least one year is supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in business administration or a related field. Experience in a higher education setting with a focus on operations, including the management of large teams, budget management, long-term capital planning, construction and projects, and events.
